Filipinas

i read a blog last night that was describing filipinas. of course, i do not know first-hand what it is to be one, but ive had enough experiences with them to have an opinion..

i think filipinas are great. especially this generation of 20-something pinays. i mean, they arent afraid to wear sexy clothes, for the sake of being sexy. they are not afraid to speak their minds, they are not afraid to follow their dreams.

this is not exactly a new phenomena. we are in the philippines, weve had a female president long before other countries even considered the idea. we had filipino leaders in our baranggay system (not sure.it might have been some other kinda system. my point is: some native clans and tribes have female leaders) and we are highly matriarchal.

and i am glad that this is how it is. of course they expect men to be gentlemen. and they expect to be treated like a princess, but when it comes time to party.they just do..and hearty to.


okay okay. you should have guessed this post was going to the direction of partying right? i mean, this IS partyphile paradise.

i went to marlboro's ducati launch party where they ahd female dancers. kinda likeledge dancers, butwqithout the ledge. they danced on stage. all the attention was on them and they seemed to revel in it. and i thank god they do. i am glad that the days when people would frown at scantily clad women dancing and showing off what their mama's gave them are gone.

i am glad that they enjoyed dancing for us, and that they are strong enough to show the world (well, not really. the partyphile world maybe) what theyre made of.

and the place was filled with women, also cheering on them. they know how to appreciate each other and didnt feel violated with such a display..



filiinas have gone a long way from the days of maria clara. and i am not sure if thats a totally bvad thing. some of my girl friends even drink harder than i do. i mean, we forget that they are female. we expect them to hold their own in drinking sessions, and they do. they always, always do.


and im glad that i waqs born in a time where women dont need to bother with being conservative or with being prim and proper. the pinay now has a choice to be whatever she chooses to be.


and im glad ive found those pinays who have decided to be partyphiles at heart..
